Cancun, Q.R. — A car that slammed into a central median of a Cancun Hotel Zone road caught fire and burned Saturday. Passing motorists called Cancun Police to the fiery scene after the car burst into flames.
The early morning accident was reported at Kilometer 7 of Kukulkan Boulevard. The driver was able to get out before his vehicle burst into flames. He reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.
Responding emergency personnel found the car damaged along with city property.
After losing control of his car, the driver took out a city light pole before slamming into the roadway median.
Officers are using city surveillance cameras to locate the driver responsible.
