Driver dies after blowing Cancun intersection stop sign

Cancun, Q.R. — A city motorcyclist died Wednesday night in Cancun after colliding with a compact car. Motorists at the intersection of Kabah and Chichén Itzá Avenues called for help after witnessing the midnight accident.

Motorists reported seeing the driver of the motorcycle blow through a stop sign where he slammed into the side of a private car. He was thrown from his bike and pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.

He was reportedly traveling with a group of motorcycles at the time of the accident. The rest of the group showed up moments after the accident.

Agents from the Traffic Directorate detained the driver of the compact car at the scene and placed him at the disposal of the Public Ministry to determine liability.
