Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun taxi driver was rushed to hospital with serious injuries Thursday after slamming into a concrete pole. The accident happened in the morning on the Periférico, near Ramal Norte.
The driver reportedly lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a concrete Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) post destroying the front of his vehicle.
According to Municipal Traffic Department report, the 9-1-1 caller identified the driver as Miguel Ángel “N”. He was traveling north when he crashed into the post.
An ambulance transferred him to a Cancun hospital in critical condition from the 6:00 a.m. accident scene. Transit called a tow truck to remove the wreck from the side of the road and towed it to the corresponding impound lot.
Police did not provide information on a cause for the crash.
