Cancun, Q.R. — Quintana Roo police say the main suspect in the death of a Cancun man has been officially charged. Luis Ariel “N” has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a city motorcycle driver.
According to police, the driver of the motorcycle died after being hit by a car being driven by Luis Ariel “N” on the night of September 12. The male victim died at the scene of the accident on Niños Héroes Avenue.
“The now accused is identified as Luis Ariel “N”, who is accused of events that occurred on September 12 of this year, when the victim was riding a motorcycle on Niños Héroes Avenue, near Supermanzana 229,” authorities said in a statement.
“According to the initial investigations by specialized experts, when the victim arrived at the intersection with 71st Street, Luis Ariel “N”, who was driving a Renault vehicle, due to a lack of caution, allegedly invaded the preferential lane in which the motorcyclist was traveling, causing the collision between both vehicles,” they explained.
As a result, the male driver of the motorcycle died at the scene. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be closed chest trauma.
“The ruling on land traffic incidents established the responsibility of Luis Ariel “N” in the traffic incident,” they said.
Luis Ariel “N” has been charged with manslaughter. The driver of the motorcycle has not been identified.
