Dozing driver causes two hour traffic backlog on busy Cancun street

Cancun, Q.R. — Traffic in central Cancun was backed up for nearly two hours after a driver flipped his car. According to Cancun Transit, the accident happened early Monday afternoon along a section of Nadar Avenue behind City Hall.

According to preliminary information, the young driver dozed at the wheel. He crashed into a parked car which caused his own to roll onto its roof. Cancun Transit found the car in another lane on its roof with the driver pinned inside.

Cancun firemen were called in to help get the driver out of his car. He was not injured. The overturned vehicle caused a great amount of grief for other drivers since the busy road was suddenly impassable with police cars and fire trucks.

It was just after 1:00 p.m. when Ayuntamiento de Benito Juárez posted “There was a traffic accident on Av Náder (behind the Municipal Palace) with no injuries. Cancun Transit personnel are already on the scene.”
