Dignitaries inaugurate new Isla Mujeres hotel chain with Puerto Morelos plans

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Thousands of local jobs have been created with the opening a new hotel. On Wednesday, dignitaries were at the official opening Excellence Coral Playa Mujeres Hotel where the first guests were greeted.

Governor Mara Lezama reported 3,000 new jobs have been created with the opening of the hotel. “The waiters, receptionists, waitresses, bartenders, hosts, hostesses, gardeners, and those who dedicate themselves to providing hospitality to travelers. They are the heart of tourism, the friendly face of Quintana Roo to the world,” she said.

Lezama was accompanied by Antonio Montaner, CEO of Grupo Excellence Collection and shareholders Bernat Pascal, Pedro Montaner and Martín Santandreu, Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde and Pablo Casas Gómez, the Undersecretary of Promotion and Tourism Operation of SEDETUR.

The new hotel consists of 470 rooms and was an area investment of $220 million USD.

During the inauguration, she also welcomed the hotel’s first gusts, Americans David and Diana Ballance from Utah, who have been clients of the Excellence brand for 28 years.

She acknowledged the vision and confidence of the Excellence Collection Group, represented by its CEO, Antonio Montaner, who in their commitment to the destination, are already planning a new hotel investment in Puerto Morelos for $200 million USD.
