Bacalar, Q.R. — A developer has applied to construct a 32 unit hotel complex near the archaeological zone of Ichkabal. Developer Paradise Bacalar Developers SAPI de CV made the request to the Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales on December 13, nearly a month before the official opening of the site.


The developing company has applied for a change of land use on 6,288.30 square meters across two lots. According to their request, the project consists of the construction and operation of a hotel composed of 32 villas.
The hotel project includes parking, a club house, warehouses, security booth, waste management area, pedestrian and vehicular accesses connected to trails that will lead to each villa.

The project also includes green areas and open spaces of 13,487.23 meters, of which the company has requested an area of 6,288.30 square meters for change of land use. Approximately 31 percent of the land will be used for building and 68 percent maintained for a conservation area over two lots.

The development, Ichkabal Villas, is currently pending an evaluation. If approved, the developer will spend approximately 115 million pesos on the 32 unit hotel project.
