Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The beautiful beaches of Isla Mujeres were the setting for the filming of a tv show Thursday. The crew filmed José Alberto Castro’s latest production “Los Hilos del Pasado,” a remake of the telenovela “El Privilegio de Amar.”

“Thanks to the unparalleled beauty of its beaches and the warmth of its people, Isla Mujeres has once again been thrust into the international spotlight, becoming one of the locations for this story that will be seen by millions of people around the world,” said Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde.
She said the Tourism Directorate of Isla Mujeres provided all the necessary facilities for the production.
“This new telenovela represents a unique opportunity to showcase the world the natural splendor, cultural richness and quality tourism services that Isla Mujeres offers,” said José Jesús Castillo Magaña, Director of Tourism.
The municipal official added that the telenovela is being filmed in iconic locations in the destination such as Playa Centro, considered one of the best in the world and certified Blue Flag and Platinum thanks to the water quality and cleanliness of its beaches.

Castillo Magaña reiterated that a significant portion of the municipality’s hotel infrastructure and varied culinary offerings were also utilized. Another location is the Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets hotel, winner of the title of the world’s most Instagrammable hotel.
The Director of Tourism recalled that since the beginning of Atenea Gómez’s administration, efforts have been made to consolidate a safe, orderly, clean municipality with a sense of well-being for its residents. This has now translated into the trust of major entertainment companies that view the island as the ideal location for high-level productions.
