Cozumel, Q.R. — The Cozumel International Airport welcomed the return of Delta Vacations’ direct flight from Atlanta, Georgia, Thursday. Mayor José Luis Chacón Méndez was on the tarmac greeting the arriving passengers.
Delta landed on the island from Atlanta Thursday with 147 passengers on a Boeing 737-800.”This return reaffirms the confidence of international airlines in Cozumel as a world-class tourist destination,” Chacón Méndez said.
“We are pleased to welcome our visitors, to tell them that Cozumel welcomes them with open arms and to let them enjoy our natural beauty,” he added.
The flight, which had been suspended since June of this year, will operate again with a daily frequency until April 13, 2025 and subsequently, will offer flights on Saturdays from April 19 to May 3, 2025, expanding air connectivity with the island.
Deputy Director of Tourism, José Elías Farah Ceh along with Pablo Alfonso Aguilar Torres, representative of the CPTQ and Andrés Navarrete, Delta station manager for Cancún, Cozumel and Tulum, were also at the airport.
Pablo Aguilar highlighted that this route will offer competitive tourist packages that include flights and lodging in Cozumel to further boost overnight stays for tourists who visit us and strengthen local economic activity.
With this restart, Cozumel strengthens its international connectivity and positions itself as a favorite destination for American tourists looking to enjoy the island’s natural and cultural wonders.
