Cancun, Q.R. — A man nabbed in a Cancun Hotel Zone drug bust has been identified as a criminal leader of the CJNG. Alexis “N”, who authorities say goes by the aliases “El Chilango”, “Muñeca” and/or “Madre”, was arrested June 24 on Kukulcán Boulevard along with a second man for narcotics.

Patrolling officers saw the two men exchanging bags of, what was believed to be drugs, on a public street. The arresting officers reported locating 190 bags of marijuana that landed Alexis “N” and Salomón “N” in jail.
During processing, police learned that Alexis “N” is the leader of a criminal organization belonging to the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), a position he assumed after the capture of former municipal Cancun police officer Rafael “N”, alias “El Comander ” in June.
State Attorney General (FGE) head, Raciel López Salazar, reported that Alexis “N” is connected to extortion activities that had been operating for several months in the Costa Mujeres area on the mainland of Isla Mujeres.

Salazar indicated that Alexis “N” was part of the criminal structure led by Rafael “N”, alias “El Comander”, who remains jailed in Cancun after his June arrest in the state of Hidalgo.

Rafael “N”, a former municipal police officer in the city of Cancun, was located, arrested and returned to Quintana Roo after tourism service providers in Costa Mujeres, who were forced to pay $700 USD a week in exchange for “allowing them to work”, filed a complaint. He remains in police custody.
