City officials dismantle illegal structure being built in Cancun beach parking area

Cancun, Q.R. — City of Cancun officials had an illegal structure that was in its initial stages of being built removed from public property. The large square structure of rebar was torn down by officials Sunday in the parking area of Playa Del Niño.

Pablo Gutiérrez Fernández, the Secretary General of the Benito Juárez City Council, said the structure was torn down after being placed without city permission. Officials verified the illegal structure in Puerto Juárez, which was torn down by personnel from Urban Development and Public Works.

It took the group more than three hours to dismantle the rebar project that was also hampering public parking.

Gutiérrez Fernández did not say what the rebar structure was meant to be as a finished project. In a statement, he confirmed it had dismantled by municipal officials.
