City officers find 9 stolen motorcycles after citizen complaint

Cancun, Q.R. — Nine motorcycles reported as stolen or found with altered VIN numbers have been seized. Police in Cancun made the seizure of the bikes during a property search Friday.

City officers searched a property located in the agricultural area of the Sac Nicté neighborhood of Cancun following a citizen complaint.

“The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Vehicle and Transportation Theft initiated an investigation in which it gathered the necessary legal elements to request and obtain from the jurisdictional body a court order that was fulfilled by elements of the Investigative Police,” they reported in a statement.

Upon entering the property, they found nine motorcycles and an engine, which have been reported stolen and/or had their identification numbers altered, as well as parts from various units.

Experts processed the scene and collected evidence to incorporate into the investigation file that will be continued by the specialized Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Once the procedure was completed, the participating elements placed the official secured seals on property, which was placed under the custody of the corresponding authority.
