City of Cancun working on new commercial public transport routes

Cancun, Q. R. — The city of Cancun could soon have a new route to cover a busy commercial area. The city’s four public transport concessionaires, Autocar, Turicun, Maya Caribe and Bonfil, are in talks with both municipal and state authorities.

If an agreement can be made, the new route would include a circuit that would cover the commercial areas of Avenue Huayacán and Colosio Boulevard.

Francisco José Palma Leal, Council President of Autocar and the Public Transport Concessionary Group (SEA), explained that the new route would not only be intended for Maya Train travelers, but also for city residents.

He said during talks, they estimate an investment of 500 million pesos, an amount with which they would acquire 24 units for the new route to the Maya Train station, in addition to buses that would be destined for the Cancun Hotel Zone.
