City Hall votes in favor of maintenance money for Cancun Hotel Zone

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun City Hall says they will allocate the money required to the maintenance of the Cancun Hotel Zone in 2025. The vote in favor of the money injection was made during the Ninth Ordinary Session of the City Council this week.

Mayor Ana Paty Peralta says the municipality of Benito Juárez will use money collected from the Sanatation Rights to update infrastructure and maintain the zone.

She says the updated infrastructure will allow the Council to continue promoting the economic engine and leadership of Cancun in a joint effort between the state and municipal governments.

“Knowing that the maintenance of the Hotel Zone requires around 200 million pesos annually, we will contribute that amount for the maintenance of the space where thousands of Cancun residents and hotel employees pass through every day, in addition to being the place where tourists are received,” she said.

Ana Paty Peralta stressed that this amount will come from the Right to Sanitation resource, authorized by the Technical Council with total transparency in accordance with its objectives. She says that includes 30 percent destined for beaches and for the tourist areas.

A collaboration agreement will be signed with the Ministry of Finance and Planning (SEFIPLAN) as sole trustee of the Trust for the Strengthening of Tourism Activity in the State of Quintana Roo (FOATQROO). The trust includes eight members from the private sector and eight from the public sector.
