Cancun, Q.R. — A child who went unnoticed in a hotel swimming pool drowned Thursday. The boy was at the crowded hotel pool with his parents early Thursday afternoon when he allegedly fell in.
Emergency services were notified of the incident at 1:55 p.m. An ambulance transferred the 7-year-old to a private hospital where he died shortly after. The accident happened at a large hotel complex in the Cancun Hotel Zone.
The child was allegedly in the care of his sister when the accident happened. The pair were together in the pool area when, according to a statement, she left him alone for a few minutes while she went to get a drink.
