Cancun, Q.R. — A suspect identified by his victim as the man who tried to extort her has been officially charged. Police reported on the charges against Juan de Dios “N” for the crime of extortion.
Initial investigations indicate that Juan de Dios “N” went to a grocery store in Superblock 229 of Cancun where an employee was serving customers. Inside the store he is alleged to have repeatedly tried to give her a book, however, she refused to take it “which led to him hurling insults at her before leaving,” police said.
Later, two individuals arrived at the establishment on a motorcycle, from which one of them got off, approached the victim and allegedly pulled out a firearm.
“Subsequently he removed the ski mask he was wearing at which point the victim identified him as the same individual who came during the morning to deliver the book to her,” they confirmed.
According to the investigation, Juan de Dios “N” allegedly demanded that the victim pay 2,500 pesos as a “fee” he would collect once a week.
Following a report by the victim, personnel from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Kidnapping and Extortion Crimes obtained an arrest warrant against Juan de Dios “N” which was carried out by members of the Investigation Police.
