Cancun, Q.R. — Firemen responded to reports of a wildfire that started in front of a Cancun hotel Tuesday night. A large area of weeds caught fire in front of a hotel in the Cancun Hotel Zone.
There are hints that the fire started due to a carelessly discarded cigarette butt.
Cancun firemen said at the scene, they were successful in preventing further spreading of the fire which had fire-damaged a concrete wall belonging to the hotel. During the incident, there were no serious injuries reported.

“Members of the Cancun Fire Department promptly responded to a fire in a green area in front of a hotel in the hotel zone. The fire involved grassland, leaves, and other natural materials, as well as a section of the perimeter fence,” they reported Wednesday.
“Thanks to the rapid response and coordinated work with security authorities, the fire was fully contained and cooled, preventing it from spreading and posing a greater risk to guests, staff, and passersby. No serious injuries were reported.
“Let’s avoid throwing cigarette butts, trash, or flammable materials in green areas. Prevention is key to avoiding fires, especially in tourist areas and high-traffic zones.”
