Cancun youth killed after crashing bike into base of highway sculpture

Cancun, Q.R. — An early Sunday morning accident has claimed the life of one young Cancun man. Police responding to reports of a motorcycle crash into the base of a city sculpture arrived to find the youth deceased.

Several motorists called in the 8:30 a.m. report of the accident along the Cancun-Puerto Morelos federal highway. Responding officers located the motorcycle and its driver, 19-year-old José Javier N, both at the base of a large concrete highway ornament.

According to reports, the young man was returning home from work when he lost control of his bike and skidded into the concrete base. His father, 57-year-old Javier Mauricio N, arrived to positively identify his son.
