Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun paramedics confirmed the death of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle Sunday afternoon. The man, reported to be around 60, was killed when he was struck by a vehicle that kept going.
The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. on Chac Mool Avenue near 52 Norte Street when the man, a local vendor, was crossing the avenue. Witnesses reported a green Mustang as being the responsible vehicle that hit him and left him for dead.
Red Cross paramedics confirmed the victim had died at the scene. The man was pushing a red shopping cart across the street to the market where he worked at the time of the accident.
Municipal police have confirmed city surveillance cameras in the area. An SSC patrol unit driven by officer Esparanto “N” reportedly located the vehicle identified as the car involved in the accident. There is no word on if the car was located with the driver still inside.
