Cancun vehicle search leads to arrest of heavily armed trio

Cancun, Q.R. — Ovel Jovan “N”, David Fernando “N” and José Antonio “N”, alleged members of a criminal group, were arrested with narcotics and five loaded weapons. Their arrests took place Wednesday in SM 253 of Cancun.

It was not until Thursday afternoon that authorities released information on their detainment.

According to the FGE statement, the arrests of the three males occurred after their vehicle was stopped and searched. During the search, city officers found a variety of narcotics along with five loaded firearms.

One of the weapons found is believed used in the homicide of a Cancun man. The person responsible for the homicide, according to the FGE, is Héctor Elías “N” who is currently imprisoned in a federal prison in the state of Oaxaca.

Initial investigations indicate that the detainees are believed to belong to a criminal group dedicated to the sale of narcotics, extortion and homicide. The detainees and the seized material were placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry.
