Cancun taxi driver shot, killed while in backyard

Cancun, Q.R. — A man who was reported shot and killed in his backyard Saturday was a Cancun taxi driver. On Saturday shortly after 5:00 p.m., neighbors made an emergency request for assistance after reporting gunfire in their SM 247 neighborhood.

When police arrived, they found a deceased male in the backyard of his La Higuera home. Neighbors told police they saw two men onboard a motorcycle shoot at the man several times, hitting him at least twice before fleeing.

Paramedics were called to the home. They arrived to find the man was shot twice, one of which was to the neck. He was pronounced on scene. The deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Samuel N, originally from the state of Guerrero. He was a taxi driver in the Cancun Hotel Zone.

Last week, another taxi driver from the Cancun Hotel Zone was shot in SM 254 in the La Joya subdivision. He was shot in the leg while walking along a residential street. He was taken to hospital and treated.
