Cancun, Q.R. — One person has been reportedly arrested after the early morning execution of a Cancun taxi driver. The unnamed driver was shot dead near his home by a man on a motorcycle who police are reported to have captured and arrested.
The deadly attack happened in the Maracuyá neighborhood in SM 223 of around 6:00 a.m. The driver was trying to escape his attackers and was taking a backstreet dirt road when he was intercepted and fatally shot.
The driver of the cab was found dead behind the wheel. An immediate search for the gunmen lead to one arrest. Cancun police have not said if the man arrested continues to be held in relation to the shooting. A second man believed involved escaped police.
