Cancun taxi driver killed after head-on with combi

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun taxi driver was killed in a head-on road crash with a city combi unit Monday. The accident happened around 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Arco Vial with Chac Mool, resulting in three other injuries.

The Andrés Quintana Roo union taxi driver died on scene. Preliminary reports say the driver of the taxi invaded the opposite lane, colliding head-on with a TTE Urvan. The combi driver, 53-year-old José Alberto C.P. and two of his passengers, 22-year-old Karla Z and 26-year-old Jaime A, were rushed to Cancun hospital.

The impact from the crash sent the taxi driver into the passenger side of his unit. Paramedics pronounced him on scene. He has not been identified.
