Cancun taxi driver arrested on allegations of drugging and sexually assaulting female passenger in motel

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun taxi driver accused of drugging a female passenger to take to a city motel has been arrested. José Roberto “N” was taken into police custody Monday after the November 30th allegations.

The woman he is alleged to have drugged and sexually assaulted was able to capture two photos, both of which identified the driver and his cab, while he was leaving the motel.

“The first inquiries link the suspect to events that occurred on the night of November 30 of this year, when the victim boarded a taxi after leaving an establishment. The next day, upon awakening, the woman was in the room of a motel in SM 239 with a man who touched her. When she questioned José Roberto “N”, he left the motel to board his vehicle and leave the property.

“Following the complaint of facts, the FGE of Quintana Roo initiated the respective investigation, achieving the arrest of José Roberto “N”, who was placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry,” police said in a statement.

“As part of the actions to guarantee women in Quintana Roo a life free of violence, the State Attorney General’s Office arrested a male person, a taxi driver by trade, for his probable participation in the crime of sexual abuse resulting in harm to a victim,” they said.

Cancun police are now urging other possible victims of José Roberto “N” to come forward and file complaints.
