Cancun, Q.R. — A private security guard was shot to death in broad daylight inside a busy Cancun shopping centre Thursday morning. The shooting left one uniformed man dead.
The shooting took place around 7:45 a.m. inside a centrally located Walmart store in SM 21 of Cancun. Emergency 911 received the report of an injured man by gunfire. Police were quick to the scene to find the body of the deceased man laying on his back on the floor.
He had been shot in the head.
Witnesses told police that the store security detail was shot by a lone male perpetrator. The man had allegedly entered the store and went directly to a checkout where he attempted to rob the teller, however, his intentions were interrupted by the security guard.
The lone male is said to have grabbed the security guard’s gun and used it to shoot him before running out of the store. Witnesses told police that the man escaped on a green motorcycle, which “took time to start.”
