Cancun robbery victim fights his assailants outside bank

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun man who was robbed of a company cash withdrawal Tuesday outside a bank fought back. The man, who had just left the bank after withdrawing cash, was approached by two others yielding a gun.

Police seized the motorcycle the thieves were forced to leave behind.

The men, who arrived on a motorcycle, followed him to his car where they pointed a gun and demanded the money. The man, a company clerk, fought his attackers, managing to disarm them but not before they made off with his money.

The physical robbery happened outside a Bancomer on Leona Vicario Avenue Tuesday afternoon. During the struggle, one of his assailants dropped his motorcycle key, which the man kicked into a nearby sewer grate.

Police were called to find the victim had disarmed a BB gun from his attackers. They also found the key and motorcycle, which his assailants were forced to leave behind.

The two men who assaulted him fled on foot from the Multiplaza shopping center in SM 219. After interviewing the company clerk, Ministerial Police proceeded to collect the key and tow the motorcycle. Security cameras are being used to track down the two assailants.
