Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Nearly every corner of Mexico continues to bake in excessive temperatures that have already reached 45C (113F). The month of March has brought not only cold fronts from the U.S., but also excessive heat to most regions.
At least 30 states have been issued heat warnings due to continued high temperatures, with 10 states forecast to reach between 40 to 45 degrees. One of those states is Quintana Roo. The National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that this weekend, the heat wave will affect nearly the entire Mexican Republic with very hot days in the east and southeast.
The latest update for April 1 sees the state of Quintana Roo in that forecast with temperatures reaching between 40C (104 F) and 45C (113 F) during the day.
Due to these high temperatures, authorities are recommending that people take preventive measures and avoid prolonged sun exposure.
