Cancun, Q. R. — A large section of CFE meters that caught fire in a residential area are suspected of being intentional. A group of homes in the Villas Otoch Paraíso subdivision of SM 259 were left in the dark Wednesday night.
Suspicious residents say the fire was likely set by area thieves with the intention of facilitating home robberies.
Municipal officials, firefighters and the staff of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) responded to the numerous 911 reports. Power was cut to the entire area while firemen dealt with the electrical blaze.
Authorities are still investigating whether the fire was intentionally set or not.
