Cancun, Q.R. — The first coronavirus-related death has been reported in the state of Quintana Roo. Health officials made the afternoon announcement noting a 74-year-old Mexican national died Thursday morning in a Cancun hospital.
Alejandra Aguirre, Secretaria de Salud del Estado de Quintana Roo confirmed “He entered intensive care in serious condition and among his risk factors he had an evolution of several years of hypertension, diabetes and smoking.”
He is the first in the state to die from the virus and the eighth nationwide. According to their most recent statement, the State Health Secretariat announced that the total number of suspected cases in the state is 154. Of the total, 93 were negative, 32 are under study, 28 are positive and one death.
