Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun mayor Ana Patricia Peralta, together with Governor Mara Lezama, participated in the inauguration of the Joya Cancún Hospital. The newly opened hospital is the first of its kind in the city to focus specifically on medical tourism.
“Thank you for trusting Cancun, investing and establishing yourself to generate more sources of employment and increase the hospital offer in our city,” said Peralta during the inauguration.
“This represents the first hospital in the hotel zone, the tourist heart of our municipality,” she added.
Authorities made a brief tour of the two-story facilities of the hospital which has more than 35 specialists.
Armando Joya Munguía, president of Grupo Médico Joya, noted that Cancun ranks second in the world for international travelers, so in response to the great demand for high quality specialty services, the hospital was built.
“It is the first and only one in the entire hotel zone of Cancun. Due to its strategic location, it will allow any request or medical contingency to be dealt with in a timely and immediate manner,” said Joya Munguía.
He added that future projects include new hospital units in Playa del Carmen and Tulum, where they also intend to strengthen the medical tourism industry.
