Cancun police search for vehicle involved in armed robbery

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun Police reported no injuries in a jewelry store robbery while they continue their search for the vehicle involved. The robbery was reported at a store on Huayacán Avenue Saturday where two men aboard a motorcycle left with the business cash.

The armed robbery happened around 7:00 p.m. Saturday night. Men on board a black motorcycle entered the store, threatening staff before leaving with an undisclosed amount of money.

Cancun police implemented a search operation for the motorcycle, but reported no finding. In a brief statement, Policia de Cancun said “in an immediate response operation, the Municipal Police of Benito Juárez responded to a robbery at a jewelry store located on Huayacán Avenue. No injuries were reported.

“The officers arrived immediately and, as first responders, they secured the evidence and cordoned off the area. In addition, together with the other cooperation agencies, they implemented a search operation.

“The possible perpetrators were riding a black motorcycle, were wearing a red jacket and a closed black helmet, and two were carrying a firearm.

“Any information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible is appreciated. Citizen cooperation through reporting to 9-1-1 or anonymously to 089 is extremely important to find the lawbreakers. Information in process.”
