Cancun, Q.R. — Three men who were initially taken into custody on drug charges could be facing additional problems after being found with extortion messages. On Wednesday, Cancun police witnessed the trio exchanging, what turned out to be, drugs.
The three were seen parked obstructing the exit of a shopping plaza at Kilometer 1.5 of the Cancun Hotel Zone. It was there passing police witnessed the handling of drugs. When they began to approach the men, all three tried to flee.
They were secured and inspected, which is when officers located 63 bags of marijuana, cash and a loaded weapon. Their inspection also revealed a handful of photos of pre-written extortion messages.
Taken into custody were Fernando N, Pedro N and Jhon N. Using city surveillance cameras, their car is believed to have been used in criminal activity around the city of Cancun in recent weeks.
