Cancun, Q.R. — Two men have reportedly been arrested after an exchange of gunfire with Cancun police. The unidentified shooters began to fire at police during an area drug search Thursday night.
A large section of Tulum Avenue at López Portillo Avenue in SM 65 was cordoned off around 9:00 p.m. when the gunfire began. Additional police arrived to assist in the locating and capturing of those responsible.
At least eight bullet holes were counted in three of the municipal patrol units. Police were able to capture and arrest two of the alleged shooters after they were caught trying to flee over rooftops.
Authorities did not report any police injuries during the shootout, however, one of those involved but not arrested is believed wounded.
