Cancun police investigating public transport units intentionally set ablaze

Cancun, Q.R. — The FGE of Quintana Roo has said they have begun an investigation into the intentional setting of fire to two public transportation units. Early Sunday, a taxi and a public transport van were found engulfed in flames in El Milagro of Cancun.

The vehicles were reportedly set on fire around 4:40 a.m. after two men broke into the vehicle confinement area and subdued two employees. Those employees were able to provide details to responding officers who also located a threat message that was left behind.

Details of that message were not made public. The assistance of Cancun firemen was requested to extinguish the burning vehicles.

In a brief, the FGE of Quintana Roo posted “an investigation was initiated for the facts related to a fire that occurred this morning in a taxi and personnel transport confinement located in the “El Milagro” neighborhood of the municipality of Benito Juárez.”
