Cancun police investigating family murder-suicide 7 year old survives

Cancun, Q.R. — Authorities in Cancun are investigating what is reported to be the murder-suicide of a family. Police have already confirmed the Tuesday discovery of a deceased man and woman inside a home in SM 76.

Also inside the home was a seven year old girl who was rushed to hospital. Cancun Police, in a statement, said she is in stable condition after receiving medial attention.

Early reports say authorities were notified of a murder-suicide after a couple were found suspended inside the home. A family member found all three suspended by rope inside the house on 43rd Street, however, the girl was still moving.

She was cut down by her uncle and taken to hospital in his vehicle. Police learned about the young girl after they responded to the report of two adults dead inside the house.

In a statement, police said “the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security (SMSCyT) of Benito Juárez reports that, after immediately responding to a report in Superblock 76, it was learned that a seven-year-old girl was transferred to the Jesús Kumate Rodríguez General Hospital, where she is in stable condition and receiving medical attention.

“At the scene, operational personnel confirmed that a man and a woman had no vital signs. The Specialized Group for Attention to Domestic and Gender Violence (GEAVIG) is already providing comprehensive support to the minor’s family.

“The SMSCyT is working in close coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) to conduct the corresponding investigations and clarify what happened. Information is being processed.”
