Cancun, Q.R. — A woman was killed Sunday night after being hit by a motorcyclist while crossing a Cancun road. The accident was reported around 8:00 p.m. on José López Portillo Avenue.

Emergency first responders found the woman laying in the roadway near SM 100 Sunday evening. The driver of the motorcycle who hit her fled the scene.
According to witnesses, the woman attempted to cross the avenue when she was struck by a fast moving motorcycle. He reportedly fled toward Chac Mool Avenue.
Eye witnesses told the police that the impact caused both the driver and passenger on the bike to fall off, however, when they saw the woman’s injuries, they got back on and sped off.
Paramedics who responded to the accidend confirmed the woman had already died. Her body was covered with a blue sheet while police cordoned off the area.
City surveillance cameras are being used to determine what happened as well as locate the responsible motorcycle driver.
