Cancun police find stolen motorcycles after suspicious neighbor report

Cancun, Q.R. — A home reported as suspicious by a neighbor turned out to be a hiding place for stolen motorcycles. Cancun police followed up on the report Friday visually locating several motorcycles from outside the home.

Authorities went back to the same address Saturday with a search warrant and found 10 motorcycles, at least two of which had current theft reports. Police “recovered 10 motorcycles, a motorcycle taxi and motorcycle parts,” from the property of the home they reported in a statement.

The search took place on a property located on 20 de Noviembre Avenue and Palma Africana Street in SM 259 where agents from the Investigative Police assigned to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in Combating Vehicle and Transportation Theft seized the motorcycles, two of which had current theft reports.

They also recovered eight other motorcycles and a motorcycle taxi without current theft reports, however, “the identification numbers have alleged alterations,” their statement read. Police said for this reason they will carry out the corresponding investigation.
