Cancun police determine carelessness as the cause for LP gas truck rollover

Cancun, Q.R. — National Guard were first on scene Friday after the report of a rolled gas truck outside the city of Cancun. The LP gas truck was found laying on its side along a section of Cancun highway west of the city.

The truck was transporting 3,000 liters of its 40,000 liter capacity of LP gas when the driver rolled it Friday afternoon. Traffic was closed to the area while emergency services worked to upright the truck and have it towed.

According to the initial investigation, the driver lost control of the truck due to carelessness. The weight of the rolled vehicle damaged part of the highway. It also created a traffic jam that extended for several kilometers in both directions.

The removal of the unit required the use of industrial tow trucks, which took several hours to maneuver and finally remove the gas truck from the public road.
