Cancun police capture three after failure to stop and subsequent foot chase

Cancun, Q.R. — Officers from the Benito Juárez Municipal Secretariat arrested three men in Cancun after a vehicle search and subsequent foot chase. The search happened Wednesday after police received reports of armed men.

The armed men were seen on city streets by Cancun residents traveling in a Volkswagen Nivus. City surveillance cameras helped in their search for the vehicle after receiving descriptions from concerned residents.

Police located the compact SUV on Nadar Avenue. When asked to pull over, the doors opened and those inside began to run. All three were intercepted and searched. Cancun police reported the arrests of 30-year-old Elrafie “N”, 29-year-old Iggy “N” and 29-year-old Ameil “N” after police found a squad-type firearm, .380 caliber with a stocked magazine inside their car.
