Cancun, Q.R. — A man wanted for a 2018 murder in Chiapas has been arrested in Cancun. The detained male, identified as Kener Antonio N, is believed involved in the 2018 shooting death of a Chiapas journalist.
The FGE says that Kener was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for his alleged involvement in the September 2018 murder of Chiapas journalist Mario Leonel Gómez Sánchez. Kener was picked up in Cancun Tuesday and transferred out of state, back to Chiapas where he will face criminal charges.
Gómez Sánchez, who was a journalist with El Heraldo in Yajalón, was murdered on September 21. Three others believed involved in the shooting death have already been detained.
The FGE said the capture of Kener was a joint effort by the the FGE of Chiapas and the General Prosecutor’s Office of the state of Quintana Roo.
Juan David N, Oscar Leyver N and Juan Pablo N are currently sitting in El Amate prison for their alleged involvement in the murder.
