Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police in Cancun have arrested two men believed responsible for the shooting death of two security guards in Playa del Carmen.

Early Monday, Cancun police detained two men believed to be the pair who shot and killed two Playa del Carmen security guards Saturday morning. The pair were captured along Huayacán Avenue in Cancun.

Lucio Hernández of the State Public Security, confirmed that Ricardo N and Carlos N were captured. He reported the arrests were made after police reviewed video surveillance cameras and security arches, which lead to their location.

In the video feed, police observed the passing of a gray Ford truck during the early morning hours of February 6, in which the two men were traveling. From the feed, police were able to capture the license plate and vehicle model as it traveled the Cancun highway to the subdivision of Playa Paraíso.

After the Playa del Carmen shooting, city C5 cameras captured the pair traveling back to Cancun, where once entering the city, they made their way through streets and avenues to an area that became the police search target.

The pair were taken into custody at an intersection along Huayacán Avenue early Monday morning and transferred to Cancun facilities.
