Cancun police call for backup in response to man with machete

Cancun, Q.R. — Military personnel were called in for reinforcement Wednesday night during the arrest of a Cancun man. The man was reported to police by gas station staff when he was seen wielding a machete and threatening customers.

Gas station staff in SM 233 saw him waving a machete and harassing a woman as she gassed up her minivan. Municipal and State police responding to the report arrived to a disgruntled man armed with a full length machete.

Since he appeared aggressive and under an influence, military personnel were called in for reinforcement during his takedown.

The shirtless and barefoot man charged officers on several occasions while also running in opposite directions along Niños Héroes Avenue. He claimed he had the machete to ‘defend himself’.
