Cancun, Q.R. — Three more people have been arrested in relation to pedestrian muggings in the city of Cancun. A total of five people remain in custody after two Australian women were mugged earlier this week.
All five are suspects in the robberies of pedestrians in central Cancun. Police say the men targeted people on foot in SMs 23, 24 and 27.
The latest three were picked up by police Thursday. Authorities have identified them as Daniel Emiliano “N”, alias “Skini”, Eliezer Agustín “N”, alias “Boricua” and Jonathan Uriel “N”, alias “Jhony”.
Police say “Daniel Emiliano “N” is the alleged leader of a criminal group dedicated to robberies in various forms, as well as the sale of narcotics.”

The men were arrested in SM 246 in the Villas Otoch subdivision. At the time of their detainment, they were in possession of marijuana, crystal meth and a loaded 9 mm weapon.
According to initial investigations, Daniel Emiliano “N”, Eliezer Agustín “N”, and Jonathan Uriel “N” are connected to the April 14 mugging of two Australian women.
Two men, Carlos Manuel “N” and a 17-year-old minor, were previously arrested in connection with the same mugging. The women were robbed of their purses at gunpoint while walking a Cancun street at night.
Neither of the women were injured. They have since been assisted by local authorities.
