Cancun police arrest man for attempted murder after chase, shootout

Cancun, Q.R. — A man alleged responsible for the attempted murder has been arrested by Cancun municipal police.

The Secretariat of Public Safety of Quintana Roo says that municipal police noticed the occupants of a vehicle carrying firearms. When they attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated, leading Cancun police on a chase that involved police being shot at.

The chase ended on a dirt road next to the Real Las Quintas subdivision in region 201 of Cancun after the driver lost control of the car, crashing it into a weeded area.

Police say that of the three inside, they were able to capture one of the men. Arrested for attempted murder against a police officer was 20-year-old David N who was placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry.

The other two occupants of the vehicle managed to flee and evade police.
