Cancun police arrest five in double homicide attempt

Cancun, Q.R. — Five men were arrested for attempted homicide in Cancun over the weekend. According to the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office police carried out an arrest warrant for Beatriz A, Ross V, Adrián M, Óscar V and José V.

They say the four men and one woman have been implicated for attempted homicide to the detriment of two people after they were injured by firearm. The FGE reports the incident occurred November 26, when two people were injured by firearm on a street in SM 58 of Cancun. Both were transferred to hospital.

An investigation lead police to the five now-detained. Police also point out that upon their arrest, officers seized two trucks, a motorcycle, bulletproof vests, a cell phone, balaclavas and signs alluding to an organization called “self-defense groups”. The motorcycle had an outstanding theft report.

The five have been admitted to the Benito Juárez Social Readaptation Center.
