Cancun, Q.R. — An attempted robbery at an eatery in Cancun led police to an alleged gang that ended with their arrests.
The Police of Quintana Roo report the arrest of eight alleged gang members in SM 103 of Cancun. Their arrests took place around 1:00 p.m. Saturday after police received a report of a gang attempting to flee the area after robbing a small eatery.
According to the police report, the robbery took place at the eartery Olga along Calle 52. When police caught up with the group, they were found with more than 11,000 peso in cash, eight cell phones, a Canon camera and other company property.
Police report the arrests of José N, 31, Edwin Efrain N, 25, José Lázaro N, 42, José Alfredo N, 42, Ely Saul N, 22, Manuel N, 43, Martín N, 36 and Luis Arturo N of unknown age.
They say that during their pursuit of the group, Municipal Police were shot at, with at least one bullet hitting their patrol unit. They also say the group could be involved in other business robberies in the downtown area of Cancun, although that will be determined by Ministerial Police.
The group remain under lock and key at Cancun police facilities.
