Cancun, Q.R. — A pedestrian died Tuesday night after being struck by a motorcycle in the hotel zone. Transit officers were on scene at kilometer 6.5 of Kukulcán Boulevard in response to reports of the accident.
The unidentified pedestrian was crossing the busy boulevard in front of Playa Tortugas in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by the motorcycle. Both were taken to hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the motorcycle was listed in serious condition. The pedestrian died at the scene. Witnesses detailed seeing the pedestrian being thrown into the air and landing on the pavement from being struck.
Forensic Medical Services arrived to remove the body. Authorities are continuing with their investigation. Police have not commented on possible charges.
