Cancun, Q.R. — A pedestrian was killed Friday after being hit by a vehicle on José López Portillo Avenue. The fatal accident was reported between the Avante and Tres Reyes neighborhoods.
Motorists reported the accident after watching the driver of the responsible vehicle flee the scene. According to eye witnesses, the male pedestrian was running to cross the avenue and did not look both ways.
As he left the dirt shoulder and made is way toward the central median, he was struck and thrown several meters forward. The driver of the responsible vehicle kept going. Paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
Police have not identified the man killed.
