Cancun operation detains one believed part of wave of city homicides

Cancun, Q.R. — The Secretary of State Public Security says one of two people detained is believed involved in, or responsible for, a wave of homicides in the city.

Lucio Hernández Gutiérrez reported that a special operations group were successful in making the two arrests with the help of the C5 technology and coordination with the QuintanaRoo State Attorney General’s Office.

He says one of those arrested is believed to be part of a group of four related to homicides in Cancun in recent weeks. He did not provide details on the arrests or the crimes in which they are believed involved.

However, on social media, Lucio Hernández Gutiérrez posted “thanks to the intelligence work of the #QuintanaRoo Police special operations group, the # C5 technology and coordination with the @FGEQuintanaRoo, the arrest of one of four subjects allegedly related to homicides perpetrated in recent weeks in the municipality of Benito Juárez.

“In a professional, relentless and determined manner, we will continue to work to restore the peace and tranquility the state deserves.”
