Cancun. Q.R. — After the death of four Cancun motorcycle drivers, a group gathered outside the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) Saturday demanding intervention. Dozens of mototaxi units were parked outside the FGE Office Saturday morning while they requested a word with the Attorney General, Óscar Montes de Oca.
Montes de Oca made an appearance and met with representatives of the motorcycle taxi drivers who confirmed that during the brief meeting with the Prosecutor, they agreed to hold a progress meeting next week.
Cancun mototaxi drivers have reduced their operating times from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. due to the four recent shootings. In a span of five days, four mototaxi drivers were shot to death inside their units.
The last two shootings took place in the Galaxias del Sol and Azul Bonampak subdivisions of Cancun on Friday night.
